it's good, but a lance and sword is better. 2 daggers are best of all of course-quick and deadly.

Legionnaire - Inspired by the military elite of ancient Rome, this class is intended as a heavy support and tanking addition to the ++ roster, offering party-wide boosts and considerable defense to any party configuration.

Equippable Items
Weapons: Axes, Maces, Spears, Swords, Polearms (No dual wield capacity)
Shields
Heavy Armour and Rings ONLY (Note, this may require a new low-level set of plate armour in the starting shops, since it all seems to be lighter in there)

Stat Allocations
HP: Very High (Engineer or Gladiator roll)
MP: Level + 20 (or something similar - extremely slow growth)
Str: Above Normal
Agi: Low
Vit: High
Wis: Very Low
Will: Very Low

Ability List
Attack
War Cry - A set of skills used to buff party members (detailed below)
Cover All - If it ever gets fixed, substitute standard Cover otherwise

Brawler Inspired by various games, though closely related to Sabin from Final Fantasy 6. I personally don't know if it's been suggested already, but meh.

Equipment:
Claws/fists for weapons(Dual wielding claws ftw?)
Heavy Armor/gauntlets/rings, lightweight bandana-type helmets, possibly.


Stats(?):
High HP
Medium-low MP
High ATK
Medium defense
low MDEF
High AGI
Low Wis
Low Wil


Abilities(?):
Attack/Fight
Mad Rush(Like Gladiator)
Martial Arts

Martial Arts:

These skills will include things like "Pummel" and "Triple Attack" that consume low-to-medium amounts of MP, with the final skills being something like a 5-hit combo that drains all MP.


Pummel: Attacks multiple times, does 1.2x-1.3x damage consumes 1 mp
Jumpkick: similar to jump for dragoons, consumes 1/20-1/10 of HP, non-MP skill.
Crane: A kicking skill, does 1.5x damage, consumes around 10 mp

and other skills similar to those(Can't think of them from the top of my head.)

First whack at it Lets see how I do

Class : Mechanic

Skills:

Loosely based off of Edgar from FFVI the Mechanic can use a daggers and wear light/medium armor he cannot equip shields and can wear rings and gauntlets.

Tools skill:
Chainsaw (Low single target damage)
Ray gun(Low electric multi target damage)
Lighter(Low Fire multi target damage)
Water gun(Low water multi target damage)
Laser(Medium Electric multi target damage)
Blow Torch(Medium Fire multi target damage)
Spray gun (Medium water multi target damage)
Drill (High single target damage)
Plasma Ray(High electric multi target damage)
Flamethrower(High fire multi target damage)
Water Hose(High water multi target damage)
Rocket Launcher(Huge non-elemental multi target damage)

Create is sort of a remember type attack except its based off some of the create skills Im going to list some possible things that it could do

Create:
Shield(Casts protect on the party)
Shell(Casts shell on the party)
Deflection(Casts reflect on the party)
Running Shoes(Casts haste on the party)
Slow(Casts slow on the party, Adding in bad effects to make it interesting)


Creates ability has a rare chance to work so this class doesn't become Over powered. I also added a bad ailment in there for the ability to become interesting,

Now for stats:
HP:High
Str:Med
Vit:Low
Agi:High
Wis:Low
Will:Med

Pros:
Good damage dealer with a HP roll
High Agility so he's a fast caster
Has a variety of skills

Cons:
Cannot heal himself unless with potions
Low Defense makes him squishy
Is limited to low armor

Trying my best to make completely unique and useful, while not overpowered, classes. Please don't ignore this post, I think these ideas would add some spice and variety!


Please note this is an unfinished idea, and open to much modifying.



Pact Guardians

Backstory: Sometimes, in desperation, the commoners have been known to take up arms as well as the guards or armies. Some of these peasants knew their might alone was insufficient, and made pacts with spirits, be thei benevolent or maleveolent. They became the first "Pactmakers" and taught their ways to apprentices in times of peace. Apprentices are given to their master at a oung age and finally allowed to enter in a pact at the age of 15.

Guardians are named thusly for their abilities; they have cover, and block/counter abilities. This allows them to soak up hits for an ally at minimal risk.

Elements: Each Guardian has ONE element. One. Picked at character creation. This element will determine the guardian's entire playstyle from creation until the character is deleted. The character is also immune to the selected element while taking double damage from a different one (A Fire Guardian would be immune to fire while taking double ice damage, for example)

Stats: Generally low all around, Pact Guardians get by on their unique skills and playstyles. Strength would be comparable to a paladin, vitality comparable to a ninja, you get the idea. Mediocre but not terrible. Their sheer determination, however, translates to high HP and moderate MP.

Equipment (Keep in mind these are commoners, not trained warriors:)
Broadswords
No shield
Light Helmet
Light Armor
Ring/ glove


Commands:

Infuse/Cease

Skills:

Infuse (10 MP, Initial)

The command casts a buff that infuses the weapon with the element of the pactspirit. Damage type changes from physical to magical. Lasts until cast again (Cease magic costs 0 MP) Or until the Release skill is used.


Deflect: (5 MP)

A weak block and counter, dealing about 1/4 damage, but nullifying the next physical attack received. No change to magic damage taken. Can only counter once per action. (6 enemies + Counter = 1 countered enemy)

Riposte (15 MP)

A moderate block and counter, dealing 1/4 damage, nullifying the next physical hit taken. The rigid stance, however, slows reaction time, and causes any spells to deal 50% more damage due to being hit with the full force, without attempting to evade. The shock interrupts the counter attempt. Can only counter once per action. (6 enemies + Counter = 1 countered enemy)

Sway (15 MP)

Magic evasion. Shifting away from the defensive stances, a heightened awareness for any change in the air allows dodging of the first spell aimed at the guardian. The counter does 1/4 damage of a normal attack. No change to physical attacks. Can only counter once per action. (6 enemies + Counter = 1 countered enemy)

Sense (30 MP)

Nagic evasion. Closing its eyes and sensing the flow of mana, the guardian can act sooner and land a stronger hit, 1/2 the power of a normal attack. Due to the complete lack of physical awareness, physical hits that land cause 50% more damage and interrupt the counter attempt.


Release: (50 MP)

The only offensive magic a pact guardian has, it "uses up" the infused energy to release a burst of pure force. This butsr does a grand total of roughly 3x the damage of a physical attack, but it's divided among all targets. (1000 damage with the normal attack command, x3, divided by 2 enemies, = 1500 each, for example)

This may sound like a lot for a defensive class, but to do so repeatedly means 60 MP for 3x damage every 2 turns. Their mana pool would be only a little higher than a paladin's.


Familiar (60 MP)

The guardian summons his pactspirit, who lends its power for a time. While only the guardian receives the buff listed below, the whole party benefits from a bonus to resistance to that element. Both buffs from the spirits fade at the same time.

Fire: Berserk/ Haste, lasts for 3 turns
Ice: Blink/ Shell, lasts for the next 6 hits received
Bolt: Berserk/ Shell, lasts for 3 actions or 6 hits.
Water: Protect/ Praise, lasts for 3 actions or 6 hits.
Earth: Protect/ Reflect, lasts for 6 hits
Wind: Haste/ Blink, lasts for 3 actions or 6 hits.

This class im throwing out because i think we need a pure damage dealing "holy" class. Pally is just a meatshield with heals and White Knight (despite being broken) is supposed to be purely defensive so yeah.

Class: Holy Knight
Ability list:

Attack (obviously)

Holy Sword:
Judgement - 10 MP (starts with)
Cleansing - 20 MP (learned at level 20)
Salvation - 30 MP (learned at level 40)
Wrath - 40 MP (learned at level 60)
Ruination - 50 MP (learned at level 80)

Holy Magick - Note: mp cost and level learned of these skills will be the same as in FFL. i dont remember their mp cost.
Libra - Learned at level 8
Teleport - Learned at level 20
Dispell - Learned at level 31
Levitate - Learned at level 32

Blessing

Item (who doesn't use alot of these end-game?)

Holy sword will be purely physical and all the techs would be holy element and cause no status effects unlike the SM's holy sword skillset.
like many other skills they'll be single OR multi-target but the damage will be divided between each additional target for balance purposes
I'm also aware that the swordmaster has holy sword but maybe you'll consider changing the name if this is added.

Holy magick im just throwin out there for utility purposes. it would only consist of Teleport
(i effin HATE having to rely on exits and lacking that kind of mobility) and Libra (because alot of people hate soloing and not knowing how long this boss is gonna take)
and perhaps Levitate and dispell.

Blessing would be like gladiators mad rush in that it would only target you.
but it'd be like lunarians spirit wave in that it adds regen but again only to you but it'd be 100%
and give him some form of a self heal.

Equipment: heavy armor and swords/knight swords and use of a shield. unable to dual weild.

Stats: for stats id say high hp like the pally and dancer ish stats in that they'd be balanced and perhaps mp like a magic knight or ninja for holy sword skills.
Example of starting stats:
Strength - 4
Agility - 2
Vitality - 2
Wisdom - 2
Will - 2
and make them go up +1 all stats per lvl like the dancer or something depending on how the dancer is with the recent re-balancing.
basicly well rounded and doing good (not op) damage but not having sucky defence/magic defence or low speed and have a self heal like blessing for
some survivability/solo capability.

Skills:

MonsterSkill would allow the player to steal a random skill from the enemy's skillset and use it against them, but only from the enemy party, and they don't keep the skill after battle. (IE: Rubi would give Fire3 or Scorch. CPU would give Globe199)

MonsterRage would be either learned by level or by use, and would allow the player to use skills that monsters have by choice, preferably one that they've used three or four times, or maybe learned from level(They wouldn't learn boss-skills for this skill subset.)


Stat Allocation:

Medium HP
Medium MP
Medium-high Strength/Attack
Medium Vitality/Defense
Low Wis/will
High Agility


Equipment:

Monster Class would have the same armor capabilities as monks, because giving them heavy armor seems off.
Monster class would require a new set of weapons that give low extra stats, along with elements(similar to monk claws.)

Able to randomly heal self and/or others if stealing skills from the right enemy(IE: Gilgamesh's recover.)

Won't be that hard to make a generic FF8 SeeD member icon. If it's added, don't make it look like squall... For the love of god...

Abilities:
GF... Just put in the effects of all FF8 GFs.
Ability... Put in all the abilities of FF8... Darkside, Kamikaze, madrush etc.
Scan... Same as peep and libra.

Equipment:
Light armor, using swords, katanas, broadswords and bows... And shields.
For the love of god, no gunblade.

Stats:
medium strength
high agility
medium vit
medium-high wil
low wis

Since the Mature Twins are going out sometime in the future, I started thinking of what should replace them. One obvious idea is an Archer. I dug through this thread and there are some good ones on Page 4 of this thread, all at the top.

The only ability I thought of that was not mentioned is called "Coverfire", which is a status you can give a teammate (excluding yourself if you code exclusions...probably can't) the equivalent of a 1-charge Blink, except the monster physically attacking the character takes normal bow damage also. The miss % could be adjusted, or just replaced by a similar effect (such as less damage).

this is a class i came up with playing the DS game

Duel Striker

better then average HP, low intelligence and average everything else

abilities:
bless-restore mp-this is a support class at heart and bless is instead of attack

White Wind-restore party hp equal to your hp

fiendarts:
tsunami-Attacks all enemies with a strong water attack. May kill some
enemies instantly
Whirlwind-Attacks all enemies with a strong wind attack. Causes
fire vulnerability
Inferno-Attacks all enemies and allies with a strong fire attack-fixed attack power, ally damage equal to 5x poison damage
curse-Lowers enemies stats-can't work on bosses but can work on lunar enemies

dark matter-random DS twincast effect at 50mp a time
Casts:
Bravery: Increases allies attack power
Faith: Increases allies magic power
Bubble: Doubles allies HP
Pyroblast: Blasts all foes with a team Flare
Comet: Hits all foes with Comet
Ultima: Most powerful attack magic

item-guess what it does

this is a mainly support class that can dual equip staff and rod weapons

a good class that shows the abillities of the DS game. granted, white wind isn't in it, but pray's overdone

Black Mage is, well, the mages of destructive magic we all know and love. While we have many classes already who use black magic, we do not seem to have an offensively based pure mage yet.

The skills chosen for Black Mage are ones I feel fit it best. Black Magic is obviously a must for them. Blue Magic has many spells that seem more black than blue. Sure, some really do not fit a Black Mage, but that could be fixed by giving them a limited selection of Blue Magic, similar to how Paladin gets a limited selection of White Magic. If this is done, the spells I think should not be given to them are Difference, Regen, Petrify (they already have Break so this seems pretty useless to them), 2xAttack, and Guard. Finally, there's Focus. I will admit this is inspired by Vivi from IX, but it seems to fit Black Mages well. I will admit that them being able to strengthen themselves may be a wee bit overpowered, but could always make it give a 50% or less boost.

I have a few ++ classes I came up with.

Bishop
Skills:
Attack (Weapons: Rods and Staffs)
White Magic (Full White Magic)
Pray
----
Items

The attack of the Bishop would be relatively weak as its job in a party would be to heal its companions. Pray would be a little different then usual, instead of healing it could cast a random spell that both helps the party and damages the enemy, although it wouldn't always work.

Rogue
Skills:
Attack (Weapons: Knifes & Swords, able to dual-wield knives)
Mug
Knife
Sneak
Items

A rogue is pretty much a stronger version of a thief, but with better abilities. Mug would steal and item from the enemy while also damaging it. Knife would toss the current weapons (must be knives) with incredible force directly at a single enemy (this is stronger than the regular "attack"), once the knives are thrown, the attack of the rogue falls to the strength it would have fighting bare-handed, but the weapons and strength will return after the battle has ended. Sneak works somewhat like jump, the rogue will disappear to the other side of the battle map (away from the party), then cut back through an enemy after a short amount of time passes, damaging a single enemy with approximately the same amount of damage that jump would inflict.

what about some kind of Necromancer?

STR: in between weak - moderate

Wisdom: REALLY HIGH
will: weak - semi-moderate
Health: (at 99 without ring) around 6500

erm he could have some dark magic as a drain sort of thing such as...dark Touch and other dark moves like meteo, Dark( a pillar of darkness)(ff12)

Weapons: daggers, rods, whips
armor: anything that a mage can have
Helm: mage equipment


I thank duck for giving me this idea for Necromancer.. I wonder if i need to add more......

Control(Confuses a Foe with a high rate based possibly on stats? If possible, controlling it works also. But while Control is in progress till the effect ends Puppeter can not act.)
Puppets (MP cost COULD be added not sure as of now.)

Well, with the removal of the mature twins twins, I thought it might be nice to suggest another class. Looking at what we have already, it dawned on me that the reason I tend to favor classes like the LK over the Dragoon is that a spell list adds variety. Let's face it, less commands can get boring after awhile.

To remedy this, I'm submitting today's suggestions: Combattants with a diverse and varied skill list, moreso than the swordmaster. These skills are all from Namco's "Tales of" Series, and will be useful in a variety of situations.

Possible characters for the sprite: Cless Alvain (Tales of Phantasia) Reid Hershel (Tales of Eternia) Lloyd Irving (Tales of Symphonia) Yuri Lowell (Tales of Vesperia)

Artes skill list:

Demon Fang (3 MP) A shockwave is let loose along the ground, dealing long range damage. Can be used from the back row for full damage. Useless against flying enemies.

Azure Edge (5 MP) A long range blast of energy caused by a vaccuum (do not ask for the science behind it) that acts similarly to demon fang, but can be angled away from the ground. Wind-elemental, can hit flying targets, weaker than demon fang. Can be spread like magic.

Sonic Thrust (5 MP) A basic attack with greater power than the normal fight command.

Tiger Blade (8 MP) By knocking ther enemy into the air and slamming them back down, this skill hits two times for about 60-70% of the power of a normal attack, per hit. (This will be fun since we have so few double hit attacks in the game, just twin magic and elemental procs)

Sword Rain (10 MP) 5 hits, each doing 30% damage.

Tempest: Not really sure how to represent this, but basically, the character holds his/her sword out while flipping at the enemy, hitting a few times, and of course crossing part of the battlefired in the original game. If possible, Tempest can hit a random number of times, or can simply be omitted.

Lightning Tiger Blade (15 MP) Hit, Hit, Bolt 1.

Fierce Demon Fang (20 MP) A much stronger, close range, demon fang. Cannot be used from the back row. (Alternatively, we could use Double Demon Fang instead, which is long range.)

Azure Storm (23 MP) 2 Azrue Edges.

Hurricane Thrust (25 MP) Sonic Thrust + Aero 2.

Heavy Tiger Blade (28 MP) Stronger than normal Tiger Blade, but also downs one enemy momentarily, dazing it but making it harder to hit for one turn. This could be represented with Hold + Blink. In essence, crowd control.

Sword Rain: Alpha (30 MP) 11 hits.


I could go on into 3rd level skills and abilities, but it might be a better idea do see if all this is even realistically possible before moving on, either with this idea or my other ones (including a well rounded archer class, characters with two handed weapons (that'd be a nice touch) and various gimmicky stuff)

I had another idea. At present, the White Knight isn't exactly a great class, let's be honest. As much as I love tanks, the low offense and healing abilities are simply not worth that little bit less damage it takes (until the endgame presumably.)

So I looked at the Paladin and Dark Knight, and decided to make the White Knight more comparable to the Black Knight. This is what I came up with. It's a more supportive class than the Paladin, with helpful summons. These summons replace white magic. Rather than have a Magic + Summon like the Black Knight, this would be Summon + Cover.

Spirits: Benevolent spirits, such as the Sylph, come to aid the righteous.


Fairy: A lone sprite appears to heal the party. Effect is limited. Less efficient than Cure2 on a single target but more efficient when Cure 2 is spread.
Dryad: A tree spirit casts Protect on all allies.
Undine: A water spirit casts Shell on all allies.
Pixie: A wind spirit blinks all allies
Gnome: An earth spirit reflects all allies
Djinn: A Fire Spirit berserks all allies.
Trinity: 3 Fairies appear to heal all allies. Effect comparable to a spread Cure4.
Sylph: Same as the existing Sylph Summon
Nymph: Similar to Sylph, but with MP Damage and MP healing to the party.
Phoenix: Same as existing Phoenix summon.
