| In online games, being able to trade items can be an interesting aspect, often forming some sort of "economy". I think that having that in FFL would be great, so I thought of a way to make it work with the game mechanics:
When an item is "gained"(bought, taken from a monster, etc.), it is assigned a level which will be saved with the item. Now, when trading, you won't be able to obtain this item from someone else, unless you are in a certain level range of the item. For example, if someone gained an item at level 70 and we make the level cap 10, they wouldn't be able to give the item to someone at level 59 or lower.
About money: I think you simply shouldn't be able to give someone below your level gold. There's no other way to implement this in a way that couldn't be abused.
Since this is a crucial decision, I'm making a poll for it. Please vote.

| Yes but there should be a limit to how much gold you can give per level and what items you can give. like you can give potions to low level but not cure3. | |

| Yes we should be able to trade items but there should be some kind of limits. | |

| I'm not really a fan of the ability to trade, since you should be able to earn everything yourself. It seems like it would be an unfair thing to do. The only reason why I would see a need for trading is if a player received a rare item in battle, and didn't let someone else get it. Like a Purple tail, with it's 1/64 drop rate. But other than that, it would seem incredibly unfair, and unbalanced. | |

this is quite a good idea, maybe make the lvl cap to trade gold 1000*lvl per hour or something, do something similar with items as well as restricting certain items. a friend's doing a trade system for another game, so i'll just mention these ideas i just said...

| I really don't think that we should be able to trade. Because, when you permit the ability to trade, you open up a HUGE doorway for people to try and scam. It'd be hard and stupid to try, but people will. It'll be a "He stole my item!!" or a "I didnt get my item in the trade because I lagged!" or any other reason that someone might be able to think up. And whether or not there was a level cap on the items, you should still try to earn everything yourself. Partying with people helps you level. Every bonus has its drawbacks. If you party, you might not get the item you want! If you're that worried about getting certain items, the solo.

| Hope I'm not grave digging, it is still a good discussion. I think you should, but with a few modifications. There will always be people who'll try to exploit the system by trading a newbie level 1 character an Excalibur or something. I suggest having level requirements on weapons. I also think for this system to really be effective and people want to trade, there should be more rare item drops. Anyone can to an NPC and buy an item, so why trade for it? On a side (relevant) note, if the trading system is implemented, please consider giving us more inventory space in both our fat chocobos and characters. - Quote :

| yeah giving money most likely will never happen. and trading rare items will also never happened. if traded items did ever happen. you would need to be like so so level to get a blade at a later point in the game. but at this point that isn't going to happen as well. | |

| This should be a full on no. People could abuse this system terribly, Say Im 99 and Im getting off this character, and a level say 79 wanted Excal 2 but just couldn't win the fight for it. So I just pass it on to him, He doesn't fight the boss, THEN someone else asks to fight and what not and he still can. It just breaks a lot of things with trading. Unless of course you make sure some items can't be traded e.g. (Pink Tails, Red Tails, Zeus gloves, Crystal gloves, And all of the special **** we have) | |

| Trading is an important part of player interaction, IMO, and could be very useful in situations such as the following examples:
Someone who already has a glass helm hits 7 out of habit when a party meber needs one. Or, perhaps someone who found 4 solo (like me) and ha sparty members without. It would save time and energy grinding more.
A physical attacker is partied with a mage. Physical attacker keeps finding ethers but is focussed on damage. Being able to trade the items would allow the ethers to be given to the mage. This could apply in numerouus circumstances, like giving ninjas shuriken. A friend is short funds for equipment. Share the wealth! To prevent abuse:
Implement equipment levels. For example, to use the equipment from Kaipo, you'd need to be level 10+. This way you can't give a level 1 ultimate weapons right away. Implement a value system: Idea taken from the .hack games. Each item has an inherent worth, and the values of the items being traded need to be comparable. You can stack 10 potions vs a piece of armor, if you want, but you can't trade level 1 for level 50 gear. Implement Untradeable tags: Some things aren't and shouldn't be tradeable, like key items and powerful gear.Adamant armor, excalibur 2, sniper bow, you name it.
It would take a lot of work to do right, and until it's feasible, leaving it out is better than opening it to abuse. Still, I think it would be a good idea to implement.

| as the duck said it would be abused far too much. that why most likely it isn't going to happen. | |

| Could you please stop making posts that say nothing but "It's not going to happen"? We're discussing ideas here, and whether they're feasible or not, and not whether someone is going to put time into implementing them in the near future. | |

| The game doesn't need trading, if anything, trading will make it way too easy. For example, if you have a lvl 99 ninja or a lvl 99 ninja friend you can just have him steal tails and give them to you so that you do not have to hunt at all, also, if you have a character with a lot of money you can transfer it to other characters to basically be set for life, the game is not really at a point where it'd be necessary to trade gold for other pieces of equipment or do equipment for equipment trades because of how easy it is to get specifically the items you want (mainly the fact that you can trade tails and other quest items for the equipment piece that you specifically want). Furthermore, there is no level requirement for equipment. | |

| I don't really see much point in trading. You generally have enough gp to afford anything and then some. Everyone can easily get anything on their own without much work. But trading wouldn't hurt, just is a very unnecessary feature. | |
